Our next Messy Church takes place in Rosewell Church and Hall on Saturday 4 May 2024 from 4.00pm – 6.00pm. This time, will be ‘Muddy Church’ as we will venture out for a little ‘bee walk’ around the village and park in a hunt for bees, thinking about what bees can teach us about loving God and each other. Come and join us as with the kids, dressed for the conditions, including appropriate footwear. We finish as normal with a meal together in the Hall. Click here to find out more about Messy Church.

Our next Forest Church will take place on Sunday 5 May 2024 from 3.00pm – 4.30pm. As we walk through the Little Wood area at Hopefield, Bonnyrigg, we will be looking out for bees, thinking about what bees can teach us about loving God and each other. We meet up at the Burnbrae Primary School car park at 3.00pm. Please come dressed for the weather, with appropriate footwear for muddy conditions! Click here to find out more about Forest Church.

Our next Coffee Morning (in support of Christian Aid) will take place on Saturday 11 May 2024 from 10.00am until 12 noon in Rosewell Church Hall. Tea, coffee and delicious home baking will be available. So, why not come along and join us, everyone is most welcome.

From early April until late September a small group of garden enthusiasts meet at Lasswade Church every Monday evening usually around 6.30 pm. Tasks undertaken include: hedge trimming; border maintenance in the fairly large rear garden; and plant cultivation in the small front gardens. We would warmly welcome any new members. You can do as much or as little as you are able and do not have to commit to every evening.

As the Church of Scotland continues in its mission to review and restructure the Church in Scotland, the decision was taken by Lasswade and Rosewell Parish Church congregation to agree to the Lothian and Borders Presbytery proposal to close the Church at Lasswade, as part of a wider review of the three Parishes in Bonnyrigg; Cockpen and Carrington; and Lasswade and Rosewell.

At present, the arrangements for the sale of the church building in Lasswade are with the Church of Scotland Law Department. The process has only recently begun and there is some considerable way to go in pursuing the different stages of this.

It is the Kirk Session’s desire that the church remains open for as long as possible for worship and as the process to sale conclusion is likely to be lengthy, it is anticipated that the church in Lasswade will remain open for some time still to come.

Lorna, the Minister.
